The 126 Quarterly Magazine
The 126 Quarterly is an ambitious project in which 126 will coordinate and produce a four part visual art publication that will highlight the activities of 126 and it’s members in 2015, provide a platform for interaction with new nationally relevant research, review cultural events in the western region and reflect on and celebrate the 10 year anniversary of 126. Each issues includes writing from a host of well-respected contributors from the west and beyond, a selection of interviews and a limited edition centre fold.
About the Editor: Daniel Jewesbury
Daniel Jewesbury is an artist, writer, curator, tutor and researcher based in Ulster. His writing has appeared in Circa, Art Monthly, The Photographic Review as well as a number of artist catalogues. He has published a number of artists books including: of lives between lines (Book Works 2001) as well as a book about Belfast with his colleague Dr Daniel Porter. As a critic he does not shy away from controversy and his wide range of research interests will be an asset to the project. We were really impressed with his vision for the magazines as one that would be a celebration but also a critical and diverse body of writing. Daniel was co-editor of Variant from 2000-2012. He is also a prolific contributor to Belfast’s satirical newspaper The Vacuum (though not always under his own name). The highlight of Daniel’s critical career came when he was sued for libel by property developers.
About the Designer: John O’Brien
John qualified with a First Class Honours in Graphic Design form LIT and has worked for a range of clients. In recent years he has held the position of Art Director for Occupy Paper. The clarity of his design works well as a vehicle for the strong editorial vision and excellent contributions of our invited writers.
