GMIT is delighted to announce a series of exciting new initiatives supporting artists and film makers in Galway City and the region.
Including six artists, a Galway based Film production , Galway City Curator in Residence , Photographer in residence , International artists collective, Expanded Draught and a new internship partnership for GMIT students with 126.
Six practising artists from Ireland and abroad who have been selected to take part in the new GMIT Summer Residency Programme, commencing 16 June for the Summer months
Six artists from Ireland, the US, Scotland and Brazil have been selected for the inaugural residency programme. The residencies provide opportunities for the artists to research and develop their practice in the privacy of their own studio while having access to GMIT’s library and editing facilities.
The artists selected for the programme are Conall Cary, Heather Macali, Marielle McLeman, Christina Mullen, Tassia Bianchini, Elodie Rei, who will be based in the Galway campus Centre for Creative Arts & Media, and Betty Gannon, Joanna Hopkins, Amanda Rice and Ian Wieczorek who will be based in the Mayo campus.
Artists and organisations will attend a launch event on the evening in 126 Gallery, Flood Street, Galway with guest speaker James Harrold, Arts Officer Galway City Council Friday 4 July, 7pm.
