Open Call | Exhibitions 2020

126
Artist-Run Gallery, Galway invites submissions of proposals for an exhibition
which connects to the intersection of Visual Arts, Theatre, Performance and/or
Dance. This exhibition may be interpreted in many ways to reflect this. This
exhibition is scheduled to take place in early 2020.
This will be
part of the yearlong cultural programme, “Meaningful | Encounters” which will focus on
working with artists to develop a series of exhibitions to address a multitude
of aspects of contemporary life and meaningful issues which affect us now. The
exhibitions deliberate ideas such as a look at cross-border politics with
Northern Ireland after/during Brexit, a group exhibition with both emerging and
established artists from Ireland and the UK looking at contemporary
relationships to animals and more.
The Project “Meaningful | Encounters” has inherently two
strands, “Meaningful” which focuses on exhibitions and cultural programmes
which support meaningful research and deliberation of topics relevant now in
our socio-political landscape. Secondly there is “Encounters” which looks at
how people encounter 126, its exhibitions and artworks.
