126 Artist-Run Gallery & Studios is delighted to be hosting the Connaught Heats for the All-Ireland Poetry Slam, on the evening of Thursday 21st September 2023. Doors will be open from 6.30pm, with the event starting at 7pm.
We will be joined by three wonderful guest judges Aoife Natsumi Frehan, Fiachna Quinn, and Al Waskow. The fantastic Fluid Druid will MC for the evening, welcoming and guiding us through the event.
A limited number of participants can register in advance to perform on the night. The registration form will be available here from 10am Monday 4th September.

All confirmed performers will be provided with a complete set of guidelines in advance of the event. Please read the basic guidelines below so you are familiar with them before registering. We look forward to welcoming you to 126 Gallery on the evening of the 21st!
All confirmed performers take part in Round One. Performers with the six highest scores in Round One advance to Round Two. The performers with the three highest scores in Round Two advance to the All-Ireland Poetry Slam Finals later in the year. Judges score in three categories: performance, content, and timing.
All poems must be from memory; no pages, notes, phones, etc. are allowed on stage. Poems can be on any subject and in any style. Please note that flash fiction/prose poems are ineligible. Poems must be the original work of the performing poet. No props, costumes, musical instruments or backing tracks allowed. Poems may not be repeated in different rounds. Only one poem per person per round, and performances should not exceed 3 minutes.
